Data enrichment and workflows

Nordvind vs Clay

The pipelines are close cousins. The difference is that one is a canvas you assemble and maintain, and the other is the same steps already wired together with the choices made for you.

Clay is a spreadsheet-shaped enrichment and workflow tool: chain data providers, add AI columns, waterfall between sources, then push the result into a sending tool.

What is left to you

  • Designing the table, the columns and the waterfall
  • Choosing and paying for each provider in the chain
  • Writing the AI prompts that generate the copy
  • Maintaining the whole thing when a step breaks

What Nordvind does instead

Nordvind is the same pipeline as an opinionated product rather than a canvas: research, segmentation, contact discovery, verification, writing and sending are already wired together and already tuned. Less flexible on purpose, and there is nothing to build.

A build project is still a project

Designing the table, chaining providers into a waterfall, adding AI columns, writing the prompts, then pushing the result into a sending tool — each step is reasonable and the sum is a system with an owner. When a provider changes a response or a prompt drifts, someone has to notice.

That someone is usually a growth engineer, and the teams who have one get more out of a canvas than we will ever give them. The teams who do not have one end up with a half-built table and a campaign that never launched.

Opinionated on purpose

We picked the steps: read the site, form segments, find companies, find named people, verify addresses, write per person, send from warm mailboxes on a capped cadence, handle replies. Providers are bundled into one price rather than billed per enrichment credit, so cost does not change with how many sources a lookup needed.

The ceiling is lower than a canvas and the floor is much higher. First preview takes about a minute, and there is nothing to configure to get there.

Where the flexibility actually matters

If your motion depends on a signal nobody sells as a product — a specific job-posting pattern, a technology footprint, a filing — a canvas lets you build it and we do not. That is a genuine reason to choose the other tool.

If the signal you need is who buys what you sell, that is the case we already handle end to end.

If you move across

  • No table to rebuild: the pipeline is already assembled.
  • Provider credits are bundled, so there is nothing to top up separately.
  • Bring suppression lists; keep any custom-signal workflow where it is.

Questions

Can I add a custom data source or signal?
Not today. The pipeline is fixed and tuned rather than composable. If your targeting depends on a bespoke signal, a workflow canvas is the better fit.
Do I need my own domains or mailboxes?
No. Sending runs from mailboxes we already own and have warmed up before you arrive, which is why a campaign can start the same day instead of after a warm-up period. There is no DNS to configure and no inbox to connect.
How many emails go out per day?
Twenty-five per mailbox per day, as a hard cap enforced in the backend rather than a setting you can raise. Cold volume above that is what gets domains flagged, so the limit is deliberate. More capacity means more mailboxes, not a faster mailbox.
Can I see it before paying?
Yes. Type your web address and the run happens in front of you: the market it read, the segments it proposes, the companies it found, named decision-makers, and a real drafted email. Free to look, no card. Sending starts from $49 a month.
Is this compliant for cold outreach?
Every message carries an opt-out link, unsubscribes are suppressed immediately and permanently across all campaigns, and we send business-to-business to named roles rather than scraping personal inboxes. We do not send to consumers.

When Clay is the better choice

If you have a growth engineer who enjoys this work, Clay will out-build us. Most teams do not have that person free.
